Epic Hikes in the Tetons

Jenny Lake is a picturesque starting point for several hiking trails. To reach Hidden Falls, take the scenic 1-mile round-trip trail that meanders through lush forested areas to this stunning waterfall. For those who want to extend their hike, continue up to Inspiration Point for breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and surrounding peaks. You can also opt for a quicker and more scenic route by taking the ferry across Jenny Lake, which shaves off a significant portion of the hike, allowing you to explore Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point with less effort. This hike has a good sized crowd during the summer.
The ferry is $12-$20 round-trip per person. Price varies by age.
String Lake offers a tranquil hiking experience with its 3.5-mile loop trail that’s perfect for a leisurely stroll or a lakeside picnic. The clear waters and peaceful setting make it an ideal spot to unwind. If you’re looking for seclusion, hike the 2.5 miles to Leigh Lake. This less-traveled path leads to a serene lake surrounded by stunning mountain reflections, perfect for a quiet retreat into nature.
Schwabacher’s Landing is a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. This 1.5-mile loop trail provides some of the most picturesque views in the Tetons, with the dramatic peaks reflected in the tranquil waters of the Snake River. The trail is relatively easy and ideal for capturing the iconic beauty of the Tetons, particularly during early morning or late afternoon light.
Camping in the Tetons

Shadow Mountain Campground offers a unique camping experience with free sites located at the top of a hill. The panoramic views of the Teton Range are nothing short of spectacular. However, these popular spots fill up quickly, so it's wise to arrive early to secure a site. Although amenities are minimal, the stunning vistas and serene environment make it a rewarding choice for those seeking a more remote camping experience.
Colter Bay Campground is an excellent option for families and those seeking more amenities. Located on the northern edge of Jackson Lake, this campground offers both tent and RV sites with facilities such as potable water, flush toilets, and a dump station. The proximity to Jackson Lake provides opportunities for water-based activities and easy access to the nearby Colter Bay Visitor Center.
Gros Ventre Campground, situated along the Gros Ventre River, provides a peaceful camping experience with stunning views of the Teton Range. The campground offers a mix of tent and RV sites with amenities like potable water and vault toilets. Its slightly remote location ensures a quieter stay while still being accessible to key attractions.
